Calgary’s Farmer Market (south & west)

Lilac Festival

Celebrate the start of summer at one of Calgary’s most beloved outdoor festivals. The Lilac Festival transforms 4th Street SW into a lively, walkable celebration filled with local artisans, food vendors, live entertainment, and community sprit – all set among blooming lilac bushes.
Personally, this is one of my favourite ways to welcome warmer months. There’s something special about strolling the street with an iced coffee in hand, checking out local venders, listening to live music, and enjoying the energy of the neighborhood as the city comes alive for summer. It’s an easy, feel-good outing that truly captures Calgary’s community spirit.

Country Thunder
For Country music fans, Country Thunder Alberta is one of the biggest highlights of the summer. Held just outside of Calgary, this multi-day outdoor music festival brings together top country artists, emerging talent, and thousands of fans for an unforgettable weekend of live performance and western inspired fun.
There’s something I really love about the atmosphere at Country Thunder—the open skies, the sense of community, and the excitement that builds as each artist takes the stage. Whether you’re singing along to favourite songs, discovering new music, or just soaking in the festival experience with friends, it’s a fun and memorable way to enjoy summer in Alberta

Global Fest

Global Fest is a summer highlight that truly brings Calgary’s diverse community together, and this year’s new location at Spruce Meadows adds an exciting backdrop to the experience. What makes Global Fest especially memorable is the energy—wandering through the pavilions, trying foods from different cultures, listening to music, and settling in as the night wraps up with spectacular international fireworks lighting up the sky. It’s one of those summer events that’s easy to return year after year, whether you’re going with family, friends, or neighbors, and always leaves you with a renewed appreciation for the community we live in.

A family favorite of summer in southern Alberta, Calaway Park is Western Canada’s largest outdoor amusement park and a favorite destination for families year after year. Live entertainment, games, and plenty of places to relax make it easy to spend a full summer day enjoying everything the park has to offer – all just a short drive from the city.

It’s an easy place to spend a few hours—or a full afternoon—during the summer season.
