Future Schools in Rivercrest, Dawson’s Landing and Ambleton

Schools are an important consideration for many families when choosing where to call home. At Qualico Communities, school sites are considered as part of the long-term planning that helps communities grow and evolve over time.

Now, some of those plans are beginning to take shape, with new schools moving forward in Rivercrest in Cochrane, Dawson’s Landing in Chestermere and Ambleton in NW Calgary. These future schools will add convenient access to education while becoming an important part of the communities around them.

As planning progresses, families may wonder what’s happening with these future school sites and what comes next. Here’s a look at the latest school updates across these three Qualico communities.

What families should know

At Qualico Communities, supporting access to education is an important part of creating well-rounded, family-friendly communities. New schools help reduce pressure on existing schools in surrounding areas while giving more students the opportunity to learn closer to home.

School sites are identified early in the planning process and serviced by the developer with the necessary roads, utilities, and infrastructure. Until a school is built, the site may be landscaped as community greenspace for residents to enjoy. School construction timelines are determined separately by municipalities, school boards, and the province based on community needs and funding priorities.

As communities grow, school timelines, designated schools, and registration details may change. Families are encouraged to visit the appropriate school board, city or community website for the most up-to-date information.

Current Designated Schools

While future schools are planned for Ambleton, Rivercrest and Dawson’s Landing, students are currently designated to existing schools based on their community, grade level and program needs.
